OUR STORY
We are a Sussex based family run company with a vision of building sustainable homes for the future. We strive to provide highly energy efficient houses by using the most up to date building techniques and incorporating new technologies to make homes that are stunning to live in and inexpensive to run. We want all of the homes we build to be sensitive to their surrounding environments and we endeavour to only enhance their natural landscapes.

We incorporate many principles when developing sites to ensure that not only are the homes highly energy efficient as possible, but also wonderful places to live. Building with sustainability at our core ensures these house are designed to last, providing homes for many generations to come. If you need help with a property purchase we conduct Building Surveys to reassure on your property's condition and also offer design services to make your home work for you.

Camber Consulting is NHBC certified and some of the technologies we have used in our most recent projects include; air-source heat pumps, Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR), highly efficient wood burning stoves, top quality timber frame windows, solar heating tubes and external insulation. All of these technologies combined means that the homes we construct have some of the best U-values for new builds across the country.
OUR SERVICES
As a small family run operation we can provide a focused bespoke service for each project. Robin Peters is a trained Building surveyor (MSc) and can provide condition reports and building design services. We specialise in creating homes that are sustainable and maximise all opportunities to futureproof buildings from energy demands and the ever changing climate. We use locally sourced trades and products wherever we can and have built great relationships with the people and companies we work with. For all of the projects that we undertake, we strive to use everything possible from the local area, allowing the houses to truly become a part of their natural surroundings. This is vital for us as we want to always be enhancing the environment in which we work, and one of the best ways to achieve this is by using local expertise and products.
DEVELOPMENT
Our main focus is finding and developing sites into inspiring new spaces in Sussex and Kent. Whether that is the refurbishment of an existing property or building from the ground up we are always looking for our next project.

PROJECTS
DOWN EDGE
Completed 2024
This property is located in Westfield on the fringes of Hastings. Westfield is a vibrant village with great amenities, a fantastic butcher, local shop and pub and a great primary school, with easy access to Hastings for its wide range of amenities.
The house has been extensively redesigned by Robin Peters to provide internal space that works for modern ways of living. The collection of small and disjointed rooms internally were combined to create a flexible use of spaces, with some open plan living combined with separate rooms to ensure that everyone has their own space within the property. Gas was removed from the property to future proof it. High performance triple glazing throughout combined with solar panels and hot water, and wrap around External wall Insulation means the property is one of the best performing, for energy efficiency in the local area.

DUNEDIN
Completed 2019
This former equestrian property located in one of Hastings' most sought after areas has been completely redeveloped to be a stunning five bedroom home.

Using best practice with wall and roof insulation, insulating floor coverings, low energy lighting and high quality triple glazed windows the house achieved an EPC B rating with estimated energy costs of around 82 per month.




THE DUNES
Completed 2015
The Dunes was the first house completed on a two house project in Camber Sands, East Sussex. The site was originally two plots that had been combined into one and had a very dilapidated house straddling both. The house was demolished and mostly salvaged for re-use in other properties.

This prestige project was built using the most modern building design with the needs of today’s living in mind. Using super insulating methods, underfloor heating throughout using an air source heat pump, solar tubes and a wood-burning stove The Dunes is a highly energy efficient property that also offers spacious and stylish accommodation.




LUMLEYS
Completed 2016
Situated next door to the The Dunes this prestige project was built using the most modern building design with the needs of today’s living in mind. Using super insulating methods, triple glazing, underfloor heating using an air source heat pump (MVHR), solar tubes and a highly efficient wood-burning stove Lumleys is a highly energy efficient property that also offers spacious and flexible accommodation. Using building methods and technologies inspired by Passivhaus Standard this is one of the top properties in the region.




MAY CROFT
Completed 2017
Camber Consulting project managed extensive renovation and refurbishment of a third house in Camber Sands. This redevelopment covered every aspect of the design and layout of the property and incorporated lessons learned from the new builds to improve the efficiency of the house. Following its completion the energy bills were reduced by more than 50%.

With this project, Camber Consulting continued to play a key role in developing this area into one of Camber’s most desirable addresses.




CARY COURT
Completed 2024
Cary Court is located in one of the most prestigious areas of Torquay in Devon. The property had previously been run as a hotel and Guesthouse, and the current owners wanted to change the layout to make the property work as one residence.
Our role with this project was to conducted a measured survey and provide options on how to reconfigure the internal layout to best suit the needs of the owners'. When the property was originally converted to a hotel it was done without much thought, creating small and unusable spaces where bathrooms were squeezed in, and blocking many of the windows and views across Torquay. Robins' redesign took into account the historic nature of the property and its proportions, meaning this four bedroom property still has three bathrooms and is now much more appropriately laid out for functionality and aesthetically.
